Forgiveness

Prayer for Forgiveness

Father God,

I come before you to ask for your mercy and forgiveness for (state thing you are repenting for).

Father, I love you and want to keep your commands (John 14:15) and I did not keep your commands when I did (state thing you are repenting for). I repent for doing it and I thank you that you are faithful to forgive me because I have confessed it (1 John 1:9).

Holy Spirit, I know that somewhere along my life I must have learned that doing this wrong thing was actually the right thing.  I know this deception must be the root of the sin because it is my desire to do things God’s way. I ask you to help me discover how this deception entered my life, and help me understand Your perspective.  I’m convinced that when I know the truth, It will set me free.

Heavenly Father, help me to see what my life will be like beyond this sin, I know deception is the only thing keeping me from the amazing life You have for me, so I only want Truth in my heart.

You have also covered it with the blood of Jesus so that it is as though it never happened, and now you will give me a time of refreshing (Ephesians 1:7, Psalm 103:12, Acts 3:19-20).

I am so thankful that you are never angry with me, but rather delight to show me mercy (Micah 7:18).  I know You are the answer and very much want me to come closer to you in these times.  You want us to fight together, You’re on my side, no matter what.

Finally, Father, if I am holding any unforgiveness towards anyone, I forgive them as you forgave me (Mathew 6:12). I release them completely from anything I have against them. They have no debt with me.

I thank You for Your mercy and I thank You for Your grace, Lord.

In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray and declare these things,

Amen.

Scriptures for Forgiveness

1 John 1:9
” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Mark 11:25,26

“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Proverbs 20:22
“Do not say, “I will recompense evil”; Wait for the Lord, and He will save you.”
