Prayer for Depression
Heavenly Father,
I come before you with thanksgiving in my heart and your praises on my lips. I come before you because I need your help.
Father, a depression has settled in my heart and I need you to come right now and strengthen me and uphold me (Isaiah 41:10) I know that this is not from you as you are a good Father. I know that you are a good Father because you said that I need to give You all of my depression, cares, worries, anxiety, every little thing that is bothering me because You care about me and You will take care of everything. (1 Peter 5:7)
I also know that Hope is the antidote for depression and the joy it creates is my strength. (Nehemiah 8:10) Just like the light banishes the darkness, Hope dispels depression.
Holy Spirit, I know You have everything under control, even when it looks hopeless to me. So I receive peace and confidence now. I realize I cannot see everything You are doing to guide my life into great victory, but I trust You completely. I speak to every negative emotion I am feeling and tell you, everything is going to work out for our good.
Holy Spirit, fill me with your joy and peace so that I am overflowing and the depression must flee away (Romans 15:13, Isaiah 35:10). I renounce all depression and hopelessness, Almighty God is on my side, my future is great. I command every negative emotion to leave now and I declare joy, peace, and gladness fill my life.
Thank you, Lord, for sending Christ to die for me. Thank you for caring about me and loving me no matter what, who, or where I am.
I trust you as my deliverer, I trust You as my redeemer, I trust You as my restorer and I trust You as my comforter.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray and declare these things,
